Shaping Strength and Independence in the Face of Tradition
Mónica Neubold was born in the vibrant city of Barranquilla, Colombia, and spent her formative years in Sincelejo, a small, rural town in the Caribbean region of the country. Raised by her grandmother while her young mother attended university, Mónica was profoundly influenced by these two formidable women. Her upbringing was also marked by the conservative cultural and political milieu of the time.
Educated in a Catholic school, she was exposed to the deeply ingrained male-dominated societal norms prevalent in her town. This dichotomy created a complex ambivalence in her worldview: on one hand, she observed the strength and empowerment of her mother and grandmother, while on the other, societal expectations dictated that women were primarily destined for marriage, child-rearing, and domestic responsibilities. Despite these conservative societal pressures, Mónica was determined to challenge and reject any norms that placed her at a disadvantage relative to men.
Towards the Field of Supply Chain
Mónica, who had graduated from high school at the age of sixteen, was determined yet unsure about her future. Her grandmother motivated her to pick between becoming an engineer or a doctor since she valued both status and financial advancement. Monica had no trouble succeeding in math and the sciences because of her ability to reason logically, she was granted admission to prestigious colleges and programs of her choosing, but she logically decided on industrial engineering since she is an empathic person and could never pursue medicine.
After her graduation, Monica quickly discovered, though, that industrial engineers in Colombia tended to seek commercial positions rather than technical ones. She desired a job that combined scientific and business features, but Colombia’s economic climate provided greater opportunities in banking than in industry in the mid/late nineties.
To achieve professional success, Mónica knew she needed to move to a country with a developed industry. After working in Colombia for a few years, she planned to pursue an MBA in international management and settle abroad. Germany became the destination for her plan.
Post-MBA, Mónica joined the in-house consulting team of a large German corporation, focusing on production and logistics projects. This experience led her to realize her passion for supply chain management, prompting an internal transition to this field.

Venturing into the field of Supply Chain, Mónica’s first ever experience in this domain was leading a large corporate group as the project head. This experience taught her the importance of considering the factors, be it political or socioeconomic in all round development of the company, and not rely on just professional expertise. Sharing deep insights based on her experience she shares – “The acceptance or rejection of professional facts often depends on how they are presented, and it is essential to be strategic and clever in convincing and persuading stakeholders to support your ideas”.
Eventually Mónica landed in FATH GmbH, all thanks to a recruiter who was seeking exactly for someone with her skill set and wide expertise. She personally wanted a job, which involved healthy pressure and a positive, human-centric environment, which were a few of the several factors, which attracted Mónica to FATH GmbH.

In her role as the Director of Supply Chain at FATH GmbH, Mónica Neubold’s primary responsibilities revolve around treating the supply chain as a profit center, aiming to generate profit and continuously improve efficiency. She is always seeking ways to enhance processes, materials sourcing, and producing more effectively.
A key aspect of her role is supporting the launch of new business ideas, which requires great flexibility and the ability to adapt quickly to changes, as these initiatives often need to move swiftly.
Overall, Monica’s role is dynamic and multifaceted, involving a blend of strategic planning, operational oversight, team leadership, and continuous learning.
Operationally, Mónica ensures an optimal service level by maintaining high product availability and process reliability, striving for operational excellence in all processes. Additionally, she oversees working capital, particularly global inventories, ensuring that capital is allocated efficiently.
