Dr. Burns’ natural ability to relate to people and her sincere desire to provide helpful support drove her to pursue a profession in psychology. Inspired by her experiences in which friends, family, and even complete strangers confided in her, she set out to obtain a formal psychological education.

Dr. Jazmin Burns pursued a wide range of academic interests throughout her freshman year at UC Davis before realizing what her true calling was. She had been thinking about pre-medicine at first, but she found that she was more drawn to English and realized how powerful language is. Dr. Burns chose to major in English with a focus on Literature, Criticism, and Theory. Dr. Burns has always had a love for writing, and she was able to hone these skills, which unintentionally set the stage for her future career as a psychologist who can write in-depth reports.
Throughout her undergraduate studies, Dr. Burns minored in psychology, which aided in fostering her enduring passion for the subject. When Dr. Burns volunteered at the UC Davis MIND Institute her freshman year and immersed herself in the field of autism research, it was a pivotal moment in her life. Her enthusiasm for dealing with neurodiverse communities was fueled by this encounter. The MIND Institute, which is well-known across the world for its studies on autism, served as the setting for Dr. Burns’ investigation of clinical research and her dedication to having a significant influence on psychology. She ultimately spent her whole graduation and postdoctoral career working at the MIND Institute. Over the course of eight years, Dr. Burns progressed from a volunteer to a psychologist working across labs of different departments.

Despite a move to Texas and a full-time job, a divine calling led her to take a leap of faith and establish Burns Virtual Psychological Solutions. Beyond expectations, her practice flourished rapidly, reflecting her commitment to providing quality mental health services.
