Unleashing the Inner Leader

Women leaders have played a significant role in shaping the field of software and technology. Making remarkable contributions to the software industry, today women leaders are managing some of the most innovative and successful software companies in the world and are instrumental in driving technological advancements. Katri Perälä is one such renowned name heading Webropol as the current CEO, carrying forward her 20+ years of experience with a passionate mindset.

Having worked in the ICT business, in B2B and B2C sectors, in both Finnish and global positions with companies such as DNA, a Telenor company, Microsoft, Nokia, and TeliaSonera Finland, throughout Katri Perälä’s career, she has aimed towards improving customer and employee experiences. And when she took up the role as the CEO of Webropol, her previous experience guided her towards progressing with confidence and vigor.

Webropol has the tools and capabilities to provide companies with powerful insights into their two most critical success factors – their people and their customers, now under Ms. Perälä’s capable leadership, the company works towards enabling organizations to have the right insights to make informed decisions and provide real-time data. “Helping others to do better is highly meaningful to me, especially when we can help organizations increase the happiness of people while improving their business”, Ms. Perälä expresses.

Webropol’s Journey

Webropol is an established family-owned company with more than two decades of experience in the SaaS industry. The company is in a solid financial position and has been growing steadily, but the owners believe it is time to set new growth targets and focus on stronger international growth. As a result, Ms. Perälä was brought on board to take the company to the next level. The current objective is to double the company’s revenue within the next three years and prepare for an IPO. “This ambitious goal will require a focused and strategic approach, and I am excited to lead the team towards achieving it. We will leverage our existing strengths and capabilities while exploring new opportunities for growth and expansion in both existing and new markets”, Ms. Perälä exclaims.

As the CEO Ms. Perälä tries to ensure that she has enough free time during the week and is available. She holds one2ones every second week with her direct reports, but every employee in the company is aware that if there is something urgent they can always contact her.  Webropol recently carried out an employee survey and the overall satisfaction towards the direct managers was exceptionally high. Ms. Perälä is confident that Webropol’s skilful leaders understand the importance of good leadership. Despite the high satisfaction score the Company constantly explores opportunities to improve, recognising that there is always room for improvement.

The focus at Webropol has always been on delivering a comprehensive solution for both Employee Experience (EX) and Customer Experience (CX), offering a range of multichannel data collection options, including email, web-links, SMS, QR-codes, and touchscreen feedback stands, to ensure ease and efficiency in data collection. The surveys can be answered in 53 different languages, and the core offering includes professional data analysis and visualization to turn collected data into meaningful insights. Webropol recognizes the importance of real-time data for effective decision-making, which is why the Company provides its customers with access to up-to-date information through our BI VIEW function. When Ms. Perälä was asked about how Webropol differentiates itself from its competitors she said – “The high level of data security and privacy sets us apart from competitors, and our many smart functionalities help users to ensure GDPR demands are never neglected”. “In addition to our survey and reporting services, we also have our own research teams to offer full-service support to customers who need help setting up their surveys or wish to outsource the process entirely. Our commitment to excellent customer service is reflected in our local customer care team, who are always available to assist our customers”, she continued.

Looking to the future, Katri Perälä looks forward to investing in new features and functionalities. She is also anticipating the launch of a new app that’ll help companies to collect feedback easily after phone calls with customers without expensive integration projects.

Success Stories

Webropol has been working closely with NHS Scotland since 2015 to deliver their Staff Engagement Survey to nearly 200,000 employees across 22 health boards. To ensure anonymity, the entire process is managed within the Webropol application, which identifies areas for improvement and provides a user-friendly and efficient feedback collection and reporting functionality. Webropol has designed and created an automated feedback process for managers, including a simple automated process to check team details, the ability to remove and exclude team members who are on holiday, off sick or absent during the process, and automated dates and schedules for sending surveys, reminders, and notifications. As a result of this work, Webropol has also been commissioned by the Scottish Government since 2017 to author the annual Health and Social Care Staff Experience report based on a quantitative staff survey and qualitative team stories written by Health & Social Care staff to illustrate how Action Plans are being developed and implemented.

She is an avid traveler and loves exploring new places with her family and friends during vacations.
