From the Scratch

With an unwavering commitment to personal growth Tristan McKinney embarked on his professional journey right after high school, where he enrolled in the Starbucks College program and successfully obtained his Associates degree while dedicating over three years to the company. However, Tristan made a pivotal decision to shift his focus towards furthering his education, leading him to pursue his Bachelor’s, Master’s, and ultimately his PhD at Purdue University Global.

Amidst his academic pursuits, the world was struck by the unexpected turmoil of the COVID-19 pandemic. It was during this challenging period that Tristan recognized a golden opportunity to venture beyond his hometown of Bainbridge Island, WA and establish a new chapter in Frisco, TX. Taking his first steps in the Dallas area, he joined RE/MAX Premier, where he honed his skills for a year before making a pivotal transition into the dynamic realm of the Oil & Gas Industry.

It was through an illuminating encounter with Sofi Exploration that Tristan witnessed the profound values the company embodied and the exceptional treatment it offered its Joint Venture Partners. Recognizing the alignment of principles, he realized that Sofi Exploration was the perfect fit for his career aspirations.

Although Tristan initially stepped into Sofi Exploration with limited knowledge of the Oil & Gas industry, he embraced the opportunity as a gateway to continuous learning. “Guided by the visionary leadership of CEO Alfredo M. Gonzalez, each day presented an invaluable chance for me to expand my expertise and grow both personally and professionally”, Tristan shared.

As the COO

As the COO Tristan’s responsibilities range from handling all marketing, and new clients as well as meeting and talking with existing clients to maintain a healthy relationship and to also make sure all clients are up to date on their Joint Ventures. “I also handle all community service and attend Chamber of Commerce meetings as well as organize food drives with our local food bank”, he added, elaborating on his additional duties as the COO.

Furthermore, when we asked Tristan about his notable achievements as the COO of Sofi Exploration he shared – “Scaling our marketing campaign to adapt to a more digital age, revamping our online client center so all of our Joint Venture partners have access, rebuilding and organizing our internal system to make doing contracts and filing more efficient”.

Always being that person who believes in a leadership model where everyone is equal, Tristan motivates his team by ensuring all their problems are dealt with, and most importantly, giving the employees their freedom they deserve.

To ensure optimal productivity, Tristan adopts a well-balanced routine. Mornings commence with 30 minutes dedicated to setting clear goals, paving the way for focused accomplishments. He initiates a power hour before the rest of the office arrives, utilizing this precious time to tackle critical tasks head-on.

As the day draws to a close, Tristan endeavors to leave work matters behind. However, should he need to address any outstanding responsibilities at home, he establishes a firm boundary of completing work by 7 PM. Subsequently, he embarks on a reflective wind-down walk, allowing thoughts to flow freely while contemplating the triumphs and challenges of the day.
