From the Scratch
Born to hard working parents, where her father was a renowned HR Manager, and her mother an accountant, from her early childhood, Peace was motivated to take up either of the professions, which she resisted wholeheartedly. Even though she might have considered a profession in accountancy, seeing her mother struggle during audit days, where her work split over her family time, was a big deterrent for Peace.
Her inner empathetic and compassionate human being always wanted her to take up a career in nursing or military service, but despite her efforts towards joining the US army, this dream remained sadly unfulfilled.
From a young age, she displayed a knack for business, starting small ventures like selling sweets and chocolate biscuits with meticulous attention to separating capital from profits. Though her endeavors sometimes led to friction, such as being labeled a disruptor during school for her entrepreneurial pursuits, Peace’s resilience and determination persisted.
Following her parents’ separation, Peace found herself thrust into a new reality, where she became her mother’s pillar of support. Learning handwork skills from her, including baking and selling crafts, Peace’s early experiences in sales became invaluable as she contributed to the family’s financial stability.
Personal Struggle to Professional Advocacy
Peace felt powerless after witnessing her mother suffer legal injustices when the family home was sold. Peace’s mother made the decision to put her daughter’s education ahead of her own rights when she had to decide whether to use the rest of her money to pay for Peace’s education or to challenge the case. Even though Peace wanted to practice law at that time, things didn’t work out that way.
Peace studied business at first, but when she got a position as a personal assistant at a legal company, her professional path took a sudden detour. She embraced the legal industry enthusiastically with the steadfast support and guidance of her then-fiance, now husband, who is a lawyer. After working in the legal department for six years at ZCTU, a labor organization, and a microfinance firm, she finally took on the position of acting legal advisor. Peace completed a post-graduate degree in labor law under the support of her company, first training as an arbitrator and then pursuing further legal education.
Her journey led her to a position as a Group HR Manager overseeing 600 employees, where she gained invaluable experience in the legal and insurance sectors. This experience, coupled with her passion for providing affordable legal aid, laid the foundation for the establishment of Golden Knot. Recognizing the injustice faced by many unable to afford legal services, she spearheaded the development of Golden Knot’s Legal Aid Cover, aiming to make legal assistance accessible to all in Zimbabwe.
Golden Knot Group in a Nutshell
While initially offering only the Legal Aid Cover as its sole product, Golden Knot has since expanded its portfolio to encompass a range of products and services, diversifying into various sectors. Its subsidiaries include – Golden Microfinance, which provides financial inclusion products primarily to previously unbanked communities, has been instrumental in positively impacting lives despite resource limitations compared to demand. One more important unit of the Golden Knot Group is The Redeemed Group of schools, which were founded to deliver distinctive education programs spanning from Primary (four schools) to High School (three schools), with an emphasis on character development and entrepreneurship education from an early age. These initiatives have been lauded by parents and students alike for their transformative impact on the education sector.

The plan includes launching facilities across all ten provinces of Zimbabwe before expanding into the SADC region.
